Many customers have asked us to share how to achieve the best results when applying heat seal emblems and patches to their garments. As we have both commercial and home based customers, we’ve created the following guidelines.

Please make sure that your emblem has the proper backing before proceeding. Many of our emblems have a clear or white PVC plastic backing; this is for sew-on and stabilization purposes, this is not an “iron on” backing.

Home Method for both “Heat Seal” & “Peel & Stick” Emblem Backings

  1. Take your household iron and set it to the cotton or high heat temperature setting.
  2. Lay the garment down flat and place a common bath towel or pillow case over the area of the garment where the emblem is to be attached. Place your heated iron on the towel or pillow case and press down firmly for 8 seconds in order to heat up the area of the garment where the emblems is to be attached.
  3. Place your “iron-on” patch on the pre-heated garment area and put your towel or pillow case on top of the emblem and then press down firmly with your iron for another 8 to 10 seconds.
  4. Remove the iron and towel or pillow case and place the garment aside and allow it to fully cool before handling it.

Commercial Method for “Heat Seal” Emblem Backing

  1. Heat garment emblem area to 350 – 400 degrees depending on garment type.
  2. Place your emblem in heated area on garment.
  3. Close your heat press at a temperature of 350 to 400 degrees with normal emblem to garment pressure for 8 to 10 seconds depending on the garment fabric type.
  4. Allow Emblem to cool normally on your garment and your emblem will be permanently applied.
